Myanmar wants to return 374 Rohingyas in the first phase
Myanmar wants to take back only 374 Rohingyas in the first phase of Rohingyas living in Bangladesh
According to a Reuters report, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ministry permanent secretary Mint Thu told a press conference on Wednesday in Myanmar's capital, Neptune.
It says that according to the Rohingya Rejection Agreement, the number of people who have been given the list of 8,332 people in the first list of 374 people has been done to verify the information of Myanmar.
Mint Thu said at the press conference, "From the list of 832 people in Bangladesh, we have selected 374 people to verify the information. These 374 people will be brought back to the first stage of the rehabilitation.
He said, they can return to their (Rohingya) facility.
In November last year, the two countries agreed to settle the Rohingya refugees who took shelter in Bangladesh. According to the agreement, the Rohingya reinvestment will start within two months, but it has not started yet. On the other hand, Rohingyas, who are facing violence in Myanmar, are still continuing to cross the border to seek shelter in Bangladesh.
Mint Thu said at the press conference that the list of 8,232 people from Bangladesh was given to them, but they could not confirm whether they lived in Myanmar before 374 except for the rest. As a reason, he said, the papers presented by the authorities of Bangladesh authorities in Rohingya, there were no fingerprints and personal photos in some cases.
Myanmar Police Brigadier General Win Tun said at the same press conference, "some documents are not in line with the compromise that has been done in the rehabilitation of Rohingya".
He said that three 'terrorists' were found in the list given by Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, after the press conference of Myanmar, the officials of Bangladesh have questioned the country's goodwill with the return of Rohingya after the press conference.
Bangladesh's Refugee, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Abul Kalam said he would not be able to say anything because he has not received any official response from Myanmar so far. However, he said the counter-question about the allegations made by the Myanmar authorities that the papers given in Bangladesh were not in the correct framework, they said they had verified more than 300 people if the papers were not in the correct framework.
In the name of security operations in Myanmar's Rakhine state on August 25 last year, the country's army started atrocities against the Rohingya. In this connection, the United Nations and United States have already called 'ethnic killings', which is a crime against humanity under international law. Since then, nearly 7 lakh Rohingyas have fled from Rakhine to save lives and have come to Bangladesh.
Besides, more than five lakh Rohingya are already in Cox's Bazar. The total number of Rohingya has exceeded 1.2 million. Though Rakhine has lived for hundreds of years, Rohingya people do not consider themselves as citizens. Myanmar
