Action needs against Myanmar: Indonesian President
Indonesia President Joko Widodo warned that ongoing violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar's Rakhine state will be stopped soon. He urged all parties to take strong action to resolve the conflict in Rakhine.
In a press conference in the state palace in Jakarta, Mr. Wido said that the real action needed to solve the Rakhine crisis, will not work only in critical statements. With the civil society of Jakarta as well as the international community, the Indonesian government has agreed to support Rakhine's humanitarian crisis, Wido said.
The Indonesian President has ordered the country's Foreign Minister Rento Marusudi to contact United Nations Special Advisory Commission chief Kofi Annan and other parties for UN Secretary General Antony Gutteras and Rakhine violence.
Wido said Foreign Minister Masududi had left Jakarta for Myanmar on Sunday morning to call for the closure and prevention of Rakhine violence. He urged the country to free Myanmar's security and humanitarian aid to all the citizens, including Muslims.
He said the Indonesian Government will continue humanitarian assistance to Rohingya victims of ethnic oppression. 'We have built a school in Rakhine and a hospital will soon be built; Construction will start in October.
